NOMAD affirms that there is a singular external deity that is God. God while being one deity simultaneously exist in three persons (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) that we as Kingdom citizens refer to as the trinity. While these three persons are one in essence, they are distinct in purpose and function. God as a triune deity exists in perfect love and community with himself, and through the Holy Spirit this love and community flow to us. As restored image bearers of our triune God, we seek to live in biblical community upward toward God, inward to one another as part of the church family, and outwardly towards our local contextual communities to impact it and serve as obedient conduits for the Holy Spirit to reach them.
NOMAD affirms that the God of scripture is the architect and sustainer of all within and outside of our created universe supernaturally through his mind, will, creativity, holiness and the breath of his words. We believe that God through his nature literally created the world and had that process recorded through his divinely inspired word. While creating everything, God’s creation took a drastic turn when he created mankind in his own image, with the purpose of man being in community with him.
The NOMAD family affirms that the Bible in its totality, that while penned by the hands of mortal men, was supernaturally inspired by God so that its words are the authoritative and true revelation of God to mankind.
The NOMAD family believes that in eternity past a portion of the created beings we know as angels chose to rebel against God under the leadership of Satan. In this rebellion they would forever be removed from a proper relationship with God their creator. Instead of accepting their fate and the consequences of their rebellious actions, these fallen angels (now demons) declared war on God through his creation. The first humans created lived in perfect harmony and rhythm with their creator until the war of the fallen angels collided with their world. In the garden of Eden, while directly living out a perfect relationship with God, Adam and Eve were confronted by Satan in the form of a serpent and tempted to do what God had commanded them not to do. In that moment both Adam and Eve choose self over God and forever changed the connection between mankind and God. As a perfect and holy deity, God had to sperate himself from Adam and Eve so as not to allow his holiness to be contaminated by their sin. In their rebellion and sin Adam & Eve not only damaged their relationship with God but everyone born following them would be birthed with a sin nature. Along with a sin nature inherited from Adam and Eve, every human has also continued to choose sin for themselves adding personal responsibility to their sin as well as the collective human sin nature each person is born into.
The NOMAD family affirms every individual in the collective of humanity is born separated from God with a sin nature. Along with this sin nature, each individual through personal sin, choices, and actions is in rebellion against God and hopelessly separated from community with him. In this rebellion against God there is nothing mankind can do to place themselves back in proper relationship with our creator. Because of this status of mankind, in love for his creation, the person of the Trinity Jesus Christ inserted himself into his creation, lived a perfect and holy life, and through his death on the cross and resurrection from the tomb provided a pathway for the restoration between God and his image bearers. For those who repent of their sins and place their faith in Christ, are made righteous before God not because of their actions or works but as a result of the sacrifice Christ made on the cross. For those that actively choose rebellion against God and choose not to repent and believe in Christ, will spend eternity separated from God in a literal space called Hell.
The NOMAD family affirms that the Church is the universal body of Christ that is made up people and groups from around the world as well as the local gathering of followers of Christ. The local gathering of the church is under the authority of scripture and Christ as father, king, and lord. The local gathering of believers exists to disciple, evangelize, teach scripture and administer believer’s baptism and the Lord’s supper. The offices of the local gathering of believers are pastors and deacons and it is self-governing under the Lordship of Christ, guidance of the Holy Spirit, and authority of scripture equally. The local gathering of the church functions through the ministry and use of spiritual gifts that are given by the Holy Spirit to each believer and to be used in accordance with the direction of scripture.
